Southampton want to hijack Liverpool move for Borussia Dortmund star who has been ‘permitted to leave’

Southampton want to take Borussia Dortmund wonder-kid Emre Mor on loan next season according to the Mirror.

The move by Southampton to hijack Liverpool’s efforts to sign Mor could increase tensions which are already high between the clubs after the Virgin van Dijk debacle.

The Reds dropped interest in Van Dijk and issued a public apology on the official club website after reports emerged that Jurgen Klopp met with the defender in private.

The 19-year-old has been ‘permitted’ to hold talks with other clubs over a Dortmund exit according to his agent Muzzi Ozcan.

“Dortmund are not against him leaving on loan either,” Ozcan was quoted as saying by Turkish-Football.

“We have been permitted to hold talks with other clubs regarding a move.

“There will be a meeting over his future where we will go over what to do next.”

Mor struggled for playing time under the stewardship of Thomas Tuchel at Dortmund last season.

The Denmark born Turkish international played just 12 times in the Bundesliga, scoring once and assisting three goals.

The 19-year-old wants assurances of more first-team opportunities next season.

Despite not getting the minutes he would have hoped for Dortmund, Mor has featured regularly for Turkey.

The rising star has been involved in nine of the Crescent-Stars last nine games.

Mor featured most recently in the 4-1 victory over Kosovo in the 2017 World Cup qualification Group I.
