Atletico Madrid were held to a goalless draw by rivals Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final first-leg game held at the Vicente Calderon stadium.
Atleti midfielder Mario Suarez revealed that his side are still in a strong position and that they knocked Chelsea out of the competition last leg after securing the same result in the first-leg.
“It’s not the result we expected at the beginning but it’s the same result we took last year to Stamford Bridge in the semi-finals – and we won,” Suarez was quoted as saying on the official UEFA website.
The La Liga champions were eventually beaten 4-1 by Real in the Champions League final last season.
Atleti are however, unbeaten in their last seven head to head games against Real Madrid this season.
Turkish international Arda Turan started for Atleti yesterday and was awarded a 7.2 rating for his performance from Whoscored.
The quarter-final return leg will be played next Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
