Sunderland are preparing a £10 million move for Beşiktaş midfielder Oğuzhan Özyakup according to the Milliyet.

The report claims that Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce wants Özyakup and that the club are willing to part ways with £10 million to secure his signature.

Former West Ham boss Slaven Bilic recently praised his former student likening him to a young Mesut Özil. Bilic described the Turkish international as being in his opinion the best player in Turkey.

“In my opinion Oğuzhan Özyakup is the most talented and best player in Turkey. He is a young Mesut Özil look at his physique it is almost the same,” Bilic told Fanatik.

Özyakup has established himself as a first team regular at the Black Eagles providing six assist and scoring once in 10 appearances in all competitions.

The 22-year-old is of course no stranger to English football having played for Arsenal as a youth before his move to Beşiktaş.

Beşiktaş are currently first in the Turkish Super League one point clear of Istanbul rivals Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe who are in joint second place.
