Sunderland winger Jeremain Lens is close to agreeing terms with Fenerbahce according to according to football journalist Alaattin Metin.

Metin who has close ties to Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim spoke to FB TV following the Yellow Canaries 3-0 victory over Grasshoppers.

“The transfer has reached an advanced stage but I cannot say anymore, we will wait an see,” he said.

Turkish sports newspaper AMK meanwhile report that recently appointed head coach Dick Advocaat is keen on working together with his former player at Fenerbahce.

Advocaat knows Lens well and both are Dutch which Fenerbahce’s manager believes will work in his favour.

Lens joined Sunderland last summer on an £8 million move from Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kiev but struggled to settle in contributing to just six goals all season – three goals and three assists.

The 28-year-old Netherlands international does have another three-years remaining on his current contract.

Fenerbahce are keen on signing a replacement for Luis Nani and Lazar Markovic who both parted ways over the summer. Markovic returned to Liverpool after his loan deal ended and Nani joined Valencia.
