Sunderland winger called up by Netherlands to replace Robben ahead of Turkey game

Sunderland winger Jermaine Lens has been called up Netherlands national team manager Danny Blind ahead of the Euro 2016 Group A clash against Turkey on Sunday 6 September.

Lens has 30 caps for the Dutch national side and was part of their squad that made it to the semi-finals in the 2014 World Cup last year.

Robben picked up an injury in the 31st minute during the 1-0 defeat against Iceland at the Amsterdam Arena.

The Dutch lost at home in a European qualifier game for the first time in 52 years and allowed Turkey who drew 1-1 against Latvia to close the gap to just one point.

The Netherlands will also be without Martins Indi who was sent off against Iceland.

Blind replaced Guus Hiddink as manager following a disappointing run but he still has a lot of work to do if he is to turn around the Dutch sides fortunes.

Turkey will overtake the Netherlands and move into third place with a win at the Konya Torku Arena.
