Galatasaray goalkeeper coach Claudio Taffarel underlined that his side are not going to war when they take on Fenerbahçe in the Intercontinental derby.
Taffarel stressed the importance of fair play in the derby despite the rivalry between the two sides.
“The derby is of course very important to us but we are not going there for war, we want to see fair play on and off the pitch,” Taffarel told Galatasaray Tv.
Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe have one of the fiercest rivalries in world football.
Away fans are banned in the Intercontinental derby due to crowd problems in the past.
Taffarel has been goalkeeper coach at Galatasaray since 2011.
The Galatasaray legend won the Turkish league, Turkish Cup, UEFA Cup and Super Cup during his playing days in Turkey.
Taffarel won the 1994 World Cup with Brazil as well as two Copa America titles.
Galatasaray are currently first in the Süper Lig and will go seven points clear of third placed Fenerbahçe with a win at the Şükrü Saracoğlu on Sunday.
