‘We are in talks’ – Club president confirms £30m Tottenham star edging closer to Turkey move

Trabzonspor president Muharrem Usta has confirmed talks with Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

Usta stated that they want Sissoko on loan and that they are waiting for Tottenham to make a decision.

The club is under no illusion that the transfer will be difficult to pull off considering the money Tottenham invested in Sissoko last summer.

Spurs paid Newcastle United £30 million [BBC] for the France international.

“We are in talks with Moussa Sissoko,” Usta was quoted as saying by Turkish-Football.

“He is a very important player, Tottenham paid £35 million for him.

“He didn’t live up to expectations last season but this can happen in football.

“We want to loan him and get his career back on track.

“Obviously Tottenham do not want to give up on a player they paid that kind of money for but we will see.”

Trabzonspor are of the view that a temporary move could help Sissoko rediscover his form and increase his valuation.

The Black Sea Storm want Sissoko as a marquee signing to celebrate the 50th year anniversary of the founding of the club.

The 27-year-old midfielder does have another four-years remaining on his contract.

Sissoko provided four assists in 34 appearances for Spurs in all competitions last season.

The powerful midfielder did not travel to the US on the pre-season tour because of a virus.

Sissoko make only eight starts after a move from St James’ Park – 34 appearances in total.

The Tottenham ace may have to ensure he plays regularly next season if he wants to remain part of France national team boss Didier Deschamps plans.
