The ball makes a 'different sound' when Mesut Ozil strikes it according to Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said that he can tell if Mesut Ozil strikes the ball without looking due to the sound it makes according to Mark Lawrenson.

The former Liverpool defender told the BBC a story which Mourinho told him.

“Jose Mourinho once said to me, when sometimes he would turn his back in training with Real Madrid he could always tell when Ozil struck the ball,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.

“It made a different sound.”

Ozil has been in terrific form of late and has won the Arsenal Vitality Player of the Month award for the past two consecutive months.

The 27-year-old has made 13 assists in 15 Premier League games this season.

Footballinsider247 reporter Wayne Veysey has stated that Arsenal are preparing a new offer for Ozil. According to the report the new deal would see his wage increase from £50,000-a-week to £180,000-a-week and make him the best-paid player in the Gunners history.

Arsenal take on Manchester City in the next round of games in the Premier League. Arsenal currently find themselves in second place behind with 33 points in 16 games. The North London based side are two points behind leaders Leicester City.
