Tolgay Arslan reveals he could play for Turkey

Beşiktaş midfielder Tolgay Arslan has revealed that he could play for the Turkish national team.

Arslan was born in Germany and has represented the Mannschaft at youth level but is eligible to represent both his country of birth and the Crescent-Stars at senior level.

“If I get a call up from Fatih Terim I will apply to FIFA for permission, if this were to happen I would love to play for Turkey,” Arslan was quoted as saying in the Milliyet.

Arslan has been in impressive form for the Black Eagles over the past few weeks.

The 24-year-old was one of the star performers for Beşiktaş in the 2-0 win over Trabzonspor, the 24-year-old scored a 7.82 rating by Whoscored.

The former HSV man has replaced midfielder Veli Kavlak over the past three weeks as a first-team player and received an average rating of 7.32 on Whoscored.

Arslan moved from the Bundesliga club HSV to the Black Eagles for just €500,000 in January and has made 11 Turkish Super Lig appearances.
