Tottenham face competition from Italian giants willing to bid £15.4m for free-kick maestro

Italian giants Inter are willing to bid £15.4 million (€18m) for Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu according to CalcioMercatoWeb.

Per the source, recently appointed manager Frank de Boer wants to bring in the Turkish international star as he makes a late move to build his own team before the end of the transfer window.

Sky Sports meanwhile report that Tottenham are preparing to launch a move Calhanoglu.

Calhanoglu’s agent, Bektas Demirtas, confirmed Spurs interest to German publication Express on Wednesday: “It is true that Tottenham have registered their interest with me.”

Tottenham and Inter could however, face competition from Atletico Madrid and TalkSport report that Manchester United as well as Arsenal are keen on the attacking midfielder.

Calhanoglu does have another three-years remaining on his current contract but Bayer do appear to be willing to consider offers that match their valuation.

The 22-year-old is highly rated in Germany and has a reputation as a free-kick maestro scoring 11 direct set-piece goals in the Bundesliga.
