Tottenham make offer for Turkey international Mehmet Topal

Tottenham have made an offer for Turkish intentional midfielder Mehmet Topal according to Futbolarena.

The experienced midfielder is currently available on a free transfer but Fenerbahce are locked in talks to try and extend his deal.

Spurs have been linked with Topal in the past but could end up signing the Fenerbahce as a free agent.

Turkish champions Besiktas have also been closely linked with the 30-year-old as the race to sign the defensive midfielder hots up.

Topal is currently on intentional duty with the Turkish national team and is expected to play a key role for his side over Euro 2016.

The 30-year-old will play as a centre-back due to the injury crisis head coach Fatih Terim is currently facing at the back.

Fanatik recently claimed that Topal had reached an agreement-in-principle with Tottenham.

The midfielder nicknamed the Spider has experience playing abroad having enjoyed a stint at La Liga outfit Valencia.
