Tottenham plot move for £12m ex Arsenal starlet from class of 92 set to lead Turkish league giants to glory

Tottenham are plotting an end of season move for Besiktas star midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup according to the Daily Star.

Per the source, Ozyakup will be available for £12 million for the Premier League giants.

Ozyakup is of course no stranger to Premier League football having first risen through the ranks at Arsenal.

The Turkish international midfielder was part of the Arsenal class of 92 which also featured Jack Wilshere.

Both players including Francis Coquelin were part of the Youth FA Cup winning side.

Ozyakup left Arsenal in pursuit of first team football with Turkish league giants Besiktas in 2012.

The midfielder went onto become a first-team star and helped guide Besiktas to the league title last season.

A feat he is likely to repeat this season considering the Black Eagles are currently first and favourites to defend the title.

Tottenham could however, face competition from Arsenal for his signature.

Turkish-Football have reported that the Gunners are scouting their former man.

Arsenal scout Jurgen Kost confirmed interest in Ozyakup and stated that an offer could be on the cards.

Kost was quoted as saying: “Ozyakup is a player of the highest standard, we have been closely tracking his progress and when we do our next search for players in his position he could return to Arsenal.”

Besiktas meanwhile are keen on keeping Ozyakup at the club over the summer. The 24-year-old will have just 12 months remaining on his contract at the end of the season but has yet to sign a new deal.

The Eagles will offer Ozyakup a new contract at the end of the season in the hope of keeping him on at the club.
