Tottenham striker promises to become even ‘better’ ahead of first Istanbul derby after scoring full debut goal

Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen scored on his full debut for on-loan club Fenerbahce over the weekend.

Janssen scored and won his side a penalty in the 4-1 victory over Alanyaspor in the Super Lig.

Fenerbahce face their toughest test yet in the Istanbul derby against reigning champions Besiktas next week.

“I scored a goal, I won a penalty, it was my very first game in the starting eleven”, he told Sabah.

I will become even better.”

The 23-year-old struggled at Tottenham last season but has got his Super Lig career off to a great start.

The Yellow Canaries will take on Besiktas at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium hoping to close the gap with their cross-city rivals.

The Black Eagles are in great form, currently second to Galatasaray in the league standings on goal difference.

The Istanbul giants have also been in great form in the Champions League becoming the first Turkish side to beat Porto in European competition.

Besiktas have won the league title for the past two seasons but Fenerbahce have lost just one of their last six home games against the Eagles.
