Tottenham striker turned down Newcastle offer to join Super Lig giants

Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen joined Fenerbahce on loan over the summer transfer window.

The Dutch forward reportedly turned down a temporary move to Newcastle United to join the Yellow Canaries according to Fanatik.

The Turkish sports newspaper reports that Janssen rejected the Magpies offer after Fenerbahce made a bid.

Janssen joined the Yellow Canaries on transfer deadline day.

The 24-year-old is one of two former Tottenham striker’s at the club – the other being Roberto Soldado.

Janssen made his debut in the 3-2 defeat against Istanbul rivals Basaksehir after the international break – the first time Fenerbahce have ever lost at home.

The Tottenham man is expected to make his first start for the Canaries in the game against Alanyaspor in the Bahcesehir Okullari Arena.

Fenerbahce are currently are currently 11th in the Super Lig on five points after four games.

The Istanbul giants will not compete in the Europa League this season after being knocked out of the qualifiers by Vardar.
