Tottenham right back DeAndre Yedlin re-ignited the North London rivalry during USA’s 2-1 victory over Germany when he brutally brought down Arsenal’s Mesut Özil.
Özil and Ilkay Gundogan started the friendly encounter which took place in the city of Cologne.
The Arsenal playmaker came close to putting his side ahead in the 6th minute of the game but was denied by Brad Guzan.
Germany took the lead then Mario Gotze slotted the ball past Brad Guzan into the back of the net. Mikkel Diskerud equalised for the USA when he controlled Michael Bradley’s fine pass and volleyed past Zieler.
Bobby Wood struck from 20 yards with three minutes left to give USA the victory.
Özil provided nine assists and five goals in 32 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions this season. Yedlin made one appearance for Tottenham this season since joining from Sounders FC.
