Tottenham star is better than Man United’s Herrera and Man City’s Gundogan, says former England international

Former England international Danny Murphy has made a bold claim about Tottenham Hotspur’s star midfielder Mousa Dembele.

Murphy has told the Evening Standard that he believes Dembele  is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

In fact Murphy went a step further and stated that he would choose Dembele over Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, Man United’s Ander Herrera, Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic, Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla and City’s Yaya Toure.

Murphy did however play alongside the Belgium international during his two year spell at Fulham. The former England international played for Tottenham.

“If you want to understand how important Mousa Dembele is to Tottenham, consider this: is there a team in England who wouldn’t include him in their first-choice starting XI?” Former Tottenham midfielder Danny Murphy told the Evening Standard.

“He would play ahead of Nemanja Matic for Chelsea. You’d have him over any of Arsenal’s midfielders, possibly alongside Santi Cazorla if everyone was fit.

“I’d take him over Ander Herrera at Manchester United, above Yaya Toure or Ilkay Gundogan at Manchester City. He is better than any of Liverpool’s midfield three.”
