Trabzonspor rejected the opportunity to sign Demba Ba at the start of the season according to an report in the Turkish newspaper Takvim.

The report stated that Trabzonspor reached a pre-agreement with Ba striker and also agreed upon a €5 million fee with Chelsea.

However, the manager at the time Vahid Halilhodzic turned down the opportunity as he felt the Senegalese international was too old.

Ba subsequently signed for Turkish Super League rivals Besiktas.

Halilhodzic was fired from Trabzonspor following an inconsistent start to the season.

The powerful striker has scored 15 goals in 17 games and has scored eight times in his last five games.

Besiktas topped their group in the Europa League and are currently leading the pack in the Turkish Super League with 29 points from 13 games.
