Trabzonspor have confirmed that talks with Ersun Yanal over the vacant managerial post have begun.
The Black Sea Storm fired former Algerian national team coach Vahid Halilhodzic following a slow start to the league and for comments he made about his squad to the media.
The statement released to the stock exchange by Trabzonspor today reads:
“Trabzonspor have begun negotiations with Ersun Yanal for the role as technical director.”
Yanal is on the verge of signing a 1.5 year deal with Trabzonspor. The former Gençlerbirliği manager is currently without a job after resigning from his position at Fenerbahçe.
The 52-year-old manager is reported to be demanded €3 million per-season.
Yanal’s first game in charge (if appointed) will be against rivals Galatasaray in Istanbul.
The experienced manager guided the Yellow Canaries to the league title last season and has coached at Trabzonspor in the past.
