Turan will not be able to play Chelsea & Man Utd due to FIFA ruling

FIFA have banned Barcelona winger Arda Turan from playing against Chelsea and Manchester United in the Intercontinental Championship club according to Marca.

Turan joined the Champions League winners on a £24 million move from Atletico Madrid last week but will be unable to play until January due to Barcelona’s transfer ban.

The Turkish international was expected to feature in the pre-season US tour but it appears Barcelona’s transfer ban will also apply to friendlies.

Barcelona will feature in the International Championship Cup this summer. The friendly tournament will have three editions this year with the other two being held in Australia and China.

The North America edition will include Manchester United, FC Barcelona, Chelsea FC, PSG, SL Benfica, ACF Fiorentina, Club América, the LA Galaxy, the New York Red Bulls, and the San Jose Earthquakes across 11 cities.

Chelsea and United were both reported to have been interested in Turan before his move to the La Liga champions. The Turkish international looks unlikely to end up facing his former Atleti teammates Diego Costa, Filipe Luis and Thibaut Courtois against Chelsea.
