Turkey star who dreamt of playing for ‘Man United & Chelsea’ officially completes record €13.4m transfer to Italian giants

Turkey international Cengiz Under made it very clear that he wanted a summer move in a recent interview with beIN Turkey.

Under revealed that he dreams of playing for Manchester United and Chelsea.

“The league I really want to play in is the Premier League and I would also love La Liga,” Under told beIN Turkey.

“I want to play for Manchester United or Chelsea, also Barcelona or Real Madrid.”

The 20-year-old came close to a Premier League move after Manchester City made an offer a fortnight ago.

A source close to Under revealed that City were on the verge of completing the deal.

In fact Under and his representatives had booked a flight to England to hold the final round of negotiations.

City had even arranged a loan move to Bundesliga outfit Freiburg.

Roma swooped in at the last moment and hijacked the deal.

The Italian giants officially completed the transfer today. Under signed a five-year contract and joined for a €13.4 million fee which could rise by an additional €1.5 million with bonuses – a record fee for a Turkish international leaving the Super Lig.

“I’m delighted to be here and very excited about meeting the fans,” Cengiz said. “My aim is to earn myself a regular starting berth as quickly as possible.”

Under has been given the No 17 shirt and is expected to join his new teammates who are on tour in the US.
