Turkish champions join race with Arsenal over £20m target

Barcelona team news

Turkish Super League champions Besiktas have joined the race for Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan according to Spanish sports newspaper AS.

The report claims that Besiktas made an enquiry to Turan’s agent Ahmet Bulut regarding a one-season loan.

The Black Eagles would be willing to cover his contract for the season which is worth €4.5 million in order to secure the deal.

Besiktas could however, face competition from Arsenal and Chelsea according to the Sun. The report also claims that Turan could be available for £20 million which is almost a third less than what Barca paid for him last season.

Per the source, Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez is reported to have urged his club to make the move and recommended Turan – despite being on holiday.

Despite being linked with a new club almost daily Turan’s agent has stated that his client is happy at the club.

Turan is understood to be happy at Barcelona. “The interest is normal but the rumours saying he is leaving Barcelona are false, he is happy at the club,” Turan’s agent, Ahmet Bulut told the Guardian.

The Turkish international midfielder provided four assists and scored two goals in 25 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions last season.
