Turkish giants plans to hijack Newcastle move for Chelsea striker

Newcastle United have been closely linked with a move for Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham according to Sky Sports.

Per the source, the Magpies are closing in on a season-long loan for the striker.

Turkish outlet Fotospor are however, claiming that Besiktas plan to hijack the move with a late swoop for the rising star.

Abraham is reported to be on the Black Eagles shortlist.

Besiktas are in the market for an additional striker with another season of competing on two fronts, the league and Champions League.

The reigning Turkish league champions for the past two seasons were stretched in the striker department last season with Vincent Aboubakar missing two months due to the African Cup of Nations, leaving Cenk Tosun as the sole striker.

Black Eagles head coach Senol Gunes has made strengthening his forward line a priority.

Gunes has a great record working with young attacking based players and strikers under his stewardship have more often than not finished the league campaign as goal king.

Burak Yilmaz at Trabzonspor, Fernandao at Bursaspor and Mario Gomez at Besiktas all ended their league campaign as top scorer under Gunes’ wing.

Istanbul rivals Galatasaray have also been closely linked with a move for Abraham since March.

Like the Eagles, Galatasaray are keen on making loan signings to stay within budget due to being under investigation from Financial Fair Play.
