Besiktas could end up holding the key to Arsenal keeping Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez this summer.

The Independent report that Arsenal are going to have to sell big names like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Olivier Giroud and Jack Wilshere this summer if they want to keep the star duo.

Per the source, the Gunners may have to make sales because of the new Premier League ruling.

If the Gunners 2017-18 wage bill is more than £7m higher than it was last year – as it would be if Ozil and Sanchez signed – they would have to cover the excess through extra revenues, most likely via selling players.

The North London club are reported to be willing to pay the star duo around £280,000 per week to extend their contract deals.

If the Gunners were to go ahead with the new contracts if would add an additional £15 million to the salary bill.

This is where Besiktas could provide some assistance.

A source close to Besiktas confirmed to Turkish-Football that Giroud is one of the strikers on their shortlist.

The Super Lig champions have made Arsenal an enquiry regarding Giroud’s availability.

The Black Eagles are monitoring Giroud’s situation carefully and would be prepared to offer him first team as well as Champions League football.

The Istanbul giants won the league title for the second consecutive season and will have additional Champions League revenues to spend on signing a star striker this window.

The Turkish title holders play an attacking brand of football and scored the highest number of goals in the league this season (73).
