Turkish giants set sights on £30m Manchester United playmaker

Fenerbahce have been linked with a move for Manchester United’s out-of-favour playmaker Juan Mata.

Turkish sports outlet Fotospor reported that Fenerbahce are planning to replace Diego Ribas this summer and Mata is top of their shopping list.

Mata’s place at United has been called into question following Jose Mourinho’s appointment in place of Louis van Gaal.

Mourinho offloaded Mata from Chelsea to United during his second spell with the Blues. The Spanish newspaper El Confidencial have claimed the Portuguese manager is open to selling Spain Mata over the summer transfer window.

The Spain international is valued at £30 million according to the Express which may place the 28-year-old out of reach for Fenerbahce.

Mata provided 11 assists and scored 10 goals in 54 appearances for United last season.

Fenerbahce signed both Robin van Persie and Luis Nani from the Red Devils last year are looking to further strengthen after missing out on the Turkish Super Lig title.

The Yellow Canaries finished the league campaign as runners-up and lost the Turkish Cup final against Galatasaray but will compete in the Champions League.
