Turkish league champions target former Liverpool & Chelsea striker

Galatasaray have been linked with a move for the former Liverpool and Chelsea striker Fernando Torres according to the Turkish newspaper Takvim.

The Istanbul Giant’s President Dursun Ozbek is on the lookout for a marquee signing following the transfer activity of their fierce rivals Fenerbahce over the summer.

Fenerbahce brought in the likes of Robin van Persie and Luis Nani during the transfer window.

The daily newspaper states that the Lion’s are preparing a move for the Spanish international in January when Torres will be free to discuss terms with any club.

The 31-year-old’s contract with AC Milan expires at the end of the season.

Torres is currently on a season-long loan with Atletico Madrid an d has made two appearances for the Madrid based side this season.

The former Chelsea man provided one assists and scored just seven goals in 36 appearances last term.

Galatasaray take on Mersin Idmanyurdu in the Turkish Super Lig this weekend.
