Turkish players should take Arda Turan as a role model according to Fenerbahçe midfielder Emre Belözoğlu.

“Arda Turan is doing a great job representing Turkish football,” Belözoğlu said.

“But we need to produce and export more players of his caliber, players should take him as an example he is one of Europe’s most recognisable players right now and keeps developing.

“He won the La Liga and played in the Champions League final, this is the role model Turkish players should aspire to.”

Belözoğlu has scored 26 times and provided 22 assists in 186 appearances for Fenerbahçe since joining from Newcastle United in 2008.

The Turkish international has won six Süper Lig titles, the UEFA Cup and two UEFA Super Cups.

Turan became the first Turkish player to win a La Liga title when Atletico Madrid lifted the title last season.

The 27-year-old was also part of the Atleti side that reached the Champions League final.

Turan has won the Europa League, UEFA Super Cup, Copa Del Rey and La Liga title since joining the Rojiblancos in 2011.
