UEFA Twitter account reveals Liverpool defender’s €6m transfer price

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel joined Fenerbahce today and the Yellow Canaries revealed that he will be officially unveiled in a signing ceremony set to be held at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium tomorrow.

What the club did not reveal however, were financial details of the transfer.

The official UEFA Champions League Twitter account sparked controversy following a tweet appearing to reveal his transfer fee.

The tweet claims that the transfer fee was €6 million however, there has been no official confirmation from either Liverpool or Fenerbahce.

Fenerbahce are yet to release a statement regarding whether the transfer fee is correct or not.

What we do know is that a transfer fee was paid and that Skrtel joined on a three-year permanent deal.

Skrtel passed his medical yesterday and put pen-to-paper on his new deal. The experienced defender will be unveiled in front of his new fans tomorrow at around 14:00 local time.
