Unal Aysal reveals he will not be running for Galatasaray election

Former Galatasaray president Ünal Aysal has revealed that he will not be running for re-election in an official statement published by AA.

Aysal replaced Adnan Polat to become the 34th president of Galatasaray, with a record of highest majority of votes in the 106-year-history of Galatasaray in May 14, 2011.

The former Galatasaray president brought in former coach Fatih Terim followed by Roberto Mancini and ex Italian national team head coach Cesare Prandelli.

Aysal delivered 27 trophies in 40 months from football to judo. Galatasaray won two Süper Lig titles, two Turkish Super Cups, the Turkish Cup and reached the Champions League quarter-finals under his leadership.

The Lions made a number of high profile transfers under Aysal including Wesley Sneijder, Didier Drogba and Fernando Muslera.

Yarsuvat replaced Ünal Aysal to become the 35th president of Galatasaray, winning 1777 of the 3379 votes cast on October 25, 2014.

Galatasaray are currently managed by former Lions player Hamza Hamzaoğlu who replaced Prandelli as manager in November.
