Mesut Ozil has stated that he is ‘proud’ of Arsenal fans after hearing the new chant they created for him.
The Gunners fans decided to sing a song for their star playmaker Mesut Ozil during Arsenal’s 0-0- draw with Stoke City last weekend.
“We’ve got Ozil. Mesut Ozil. I just don’t think you understand. He’s Arsene Wenger’s man. He’s better than Zidane,” Arsenal fans chanted at the Britannia stadium.
The 27-year-old took to Twitter to praise fans for creating the chant, “Heard about that brilliant song! I have to say I’m more than proud to have you as our fans. Keep singing on!”
Ozil missed the game due to a foot injury but that did not stop Arsenal fans paying tribute to the playmaker.
The Germany international has already provided 16 assists in the Premier League this season and is just four assists away from matching Thierry Henry’s record tally of 20.
Arsenal will remain at the top of the table if they defeat Chelsea on Sunday however, if the Gunners drop points they can be overtaken by both Manchester City and Leicester City.
