“We are tracking the situation” – Liverpool suffer transfer blow as Euro giants Chief confirms interest in star midfielder

Serie A giants Juventus have confirmed that they are interested in signing Liverpool star midfielder Emre Can.

Can has been frequently linked with a move away from the Merseyside club after failing to pen a new contract with Liverpool.

The Germany international has entered the final six months of his contract and will be free to sign a pre-contract with European clubs from January 1 onwards.

Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta confirmed his sides interest in Can during an interview with Italian outlet Mediaset Premium.

Marotta stated that Juventus are keeping tabs on Can but expects other clubs to table rival offers for the combative midfielder.

“Emre Can is a name doing the rounds because his contract is running down,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium.

“I won’t deny he is a player we too have monitored and many important clubs will try to close a deal over the next few weeks.

“We are tracking the situation, nothing more.”

Despite the 23-year-old’s contract situation, Can has retained his place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting eleven. However, the former Bayer Leverkusen man missed Liverpool’s win over Bournemouth due to a suspension.

Liverpool will take a trip down south to face Arsenal at the Emirates on Friday night in the Premier League.
