‘We want him to play in Europe’ – Agent gives Tottenham transfer boost for wonder-kid target, Man United & Ligue 1 giants scouting 19-year-old

Tottenham have been closely linked with a move for Basaksehir wonder-kid Cengiz Under according to reports in Turkey.

Ajansspor claimed that Spurs had actually struck an £8 million deal with Basaksehir to sign the 19-year-old.

Under’s agent Omer Koray Uzun denied an agreement being reached but did confirm Spurs interest.

“There is no agreement right now with any club, there are several clubs from England, Germany and France scouting Under but no deal,” Uzun was quoted as saying.

Uzun dropped another hint regarding his plans for Under, underlining that he wants the youngster to play outside of Turkey.

“I have heard about the Lille rumour, there is no offer like is being reported but they are interested and considering making a move,” Uzun was quoted as saying by Turkish-Football.

“We are waiting for the right moment but Cengiz will play in Europe and his club want the same for him.

“It is just a matter of the right time now, his club and manager Abdullah Avci deserve a lot of praise for taking a risk on him and giving him the chance to prove himself.”

The agent also revealed that Lille have been plotting a move.

Under does have another four-years remaining on his contract after joining from Altinordu last season.

Basaksehir are keen on keeping hold of Under but have made no secret of interest from the Premier League and La Liga.

“There were scouts from Premier League scouts and La Liga teams at the Besiktas derby,” Gumusdag was quoted as saying by Turkish-Football.

Basaksehir ended up beating Turkish champions Besiktas 3-1, Under featured in the derby.

Manchester United have also been keeping close tabs on Under and recently sent Eastern European scout Krsto Kilibarda to monitor the young forward in person.

The Turkish international joined Basaksehir from the highly acclaimed Altinordu academy.

Twenty-year old Caglar Soyuncu also left the Izmir based club last season to join Freiburg where he has established himself as a first-team regular for the Bundesliga outfit.

Under was one of Basaksehir’s star players this season scoring nine times and providing seven assists. The rising star is almost certain to start in the Turkish Cup final against Konyaspor.
