“We will miss him” – Liverpool can shine without  £142m Barcelona star says Germany international

Liverpool star midfielder Emre can has stated that his side has proved they can shine without Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazil international playmaker recently made a £142 million move to Barcelona.

Former Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – who joined Liverpool from Arsenal last summer – was tasked with filling the void against Man City.

“Phil is a world class player but in the past we played a lot of games without him that were very good. Against City it was the same,” Can told the Telegraph.

“Of course we will miss him. We will miss his goals, we will miss him as a team-mate and as a guy but we have to keep going.

“Alex was brilliant. He played all his life as a winger but against Man City he played as a No 8 and you could see he is an amazing player. He’s quick, he’s strong in tackles and he can score goals.”

Both Emre Can and Oxlade-Chamberlain are expected to be back in action when Liverpool take on Swansea City in their next fixture.

the Reds inflicted Man City’s first defeat of the season scuppering their hopes of recreating the invincibles.

Can’s long-term future at Liverpool is still cast in doubt after failing to put pen to paper on a new deal. The 24-year-old’s contract with the Reds expires at the end of the season.
