Wesley Sneijder ready for the Beşiktaş derby [divider]
Galatasaray playmaker Wesley Sneijder has recovered in time for the Istanbul derby against Beşiktaş on Sunday 4 January 2015.
The Dutch star missed last weeks 1-1 draw against Gençlerbirliği with injury and was a doubt for the game against Beşiktaş.
Galatasaray manager Hamza Hamzaoğlu revealed that he rested Sneijder and Aurelian Chedjou against Gençlerbirliği.
“Both players had injuries, I did not want to risk them ahead of the derby,” Hamzaoğlu said.
“If they had played they may have got injured.”
Chedjou is also expected to play in the derby after recovering from injury.
Sneijder has never featured in a Galatasaray side that has lost an Istanbul derby against Beşiktaş.
The Lions have not lost any of the last six head-to-head matches against the Black Eagles.
Sneijder has four goals and one assist in 21 appearances in all competitions for Galatasaray this season.
