West Brom transfer news: Baggies suffer major transfer blow as Brazil international reveals future plans

West Brom have suffered a blow in the hunt for Brazil international midfielder Josef de Souza.

The Baggies were interested in signing Souza during the summer transfer window. West Brom even struck a deal with Fenerbahce for the star midfielder however, the transfer broke down after Souza was refused a work permit.

West Brom went on sign Grzegorz Krychowiak on a season-long loan from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain instead.

The Turkish outlet SporX state that West Brom have not given up on signing Souza in January.

Per the source, the Baggies are preparing a fresh offer for the 28-year-old midfielder.

However, SporX go onto state that Josef de Souza has ruled out leaving Fenerbahce this season.

“Certainly the news is lies and fabrications. I want to stay at Fenerbahce,” De Souza told Turkish outlet Sporx.

“I’m happy at the club, and I want to play my football here. I want to extend my contract with Fenerbahce, and become champions.”

West Brom were held to a 2-2 draw by Newcastle United on Tuesday evening and take on fellow relegation battlers Crystal Palace this weekend.

Fenerbahce meanwhile take on Istanbul rivals Kasimpasa in the Turkish Super Lig.
