West Ham boss Slaven Bilic backs Igor Tudor to be a success at Galatasaray

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has backed Igor Tudor to be a success at Galatasaray in a recent interview with the Turkish edition of FourFourTwo.

Bilic revealed that becoming manager of Galatasaray is a huge opportunity for Tudor and that he could end up having a long and successful future at the club.

“It is a big opportunity for Igor, when a new manager gets a chance like this he must take it,” Bilic said.

“Galatasaray are going through a transition and Igor will be part of that, even with all the troubles the club has been through recently Riekerink still had a €20 million budget which is astronomical compared to what Igor had at Karabukspor.

“I expect Igor to be a success at Galatasaray and stay beyond this six-month period and do well in the long term.”

Tudor was manager of Karabukspor but severed ties with the Turkish league minnows when Galatasaray came calling.

The Lions fired Jan Olde Riekerink despite being in third place at the time following pressure from the fans.

The Istanbul giants are just five points behind league leaders Besiktas and are competing solely in the Super Lig after being knocked out of the Turkish Cup and being suspended from European competition this season for breaching UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules.

Tudor like Bilic was a Croatia international defender and the current West Ham boss made a name for himself as a manager in Turkey.

Bilic coached Besiktas for two-seasons in a successful spell which saw the Black Eagles challenge for the league title and reach the later stages of the Europa League beating Premier League sides such as Liverpool and Tottenham.
