West Ham boss Slaven Bilic confirms interest in Nigerian international striker

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has confirmed interest in Fenerbahçe striker Emanuel Emenike.

Bilic was quoted by Express as saying: “We are linked with a few strikers – he’s the one. We’re going to see what happens now.”

The Sun newspaper also states that West Ham have held talks with Emenike, who has played on loan at UAE club Al Ain.

Bilic is no stranger to Emenike having coached Beşiktaş before joining West Ham over the summer.

The Nigerian international played for the Black Eagles rivals and would have been familiar to Bilic.

The powerful forward joined the Dubai-based club Al Ain on loan from Fenerbahçe scoring seven times in 11 appearances but has returned to Turkey following the opening of the winter transfer window.

According to ESPN West Ham chairman David Sullivan has confirmed that they were hoping to sign a new striker which further strengthens claims that the 28-year-old is England bound.

Emenike hit a rich vein of form for Al Ain but scored only five goals in 34 league appearances last season for Fenerbahçe in all competitions.
