West Ham & Norwich City to scout 19-goal Turkish striker Cenk Tosun

West Ham and Norwich City will scout Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun over the weekend when the reigning Turkish league champions take on rivals Galatasaray in the Istanbul derby a source close to the Black Eagles revealed to Turkish-Football.com.

Both clubs have been keeping tabs on Tosun for the past few months but have yet to make an offer.

Tosun started the season as the Eagles second-choice striker behind Vincent Aboubakar who joined on loan from Porto.

It was not long before the Turkish international striker established himself as the number one forward in the team.

Tosun has been on fire this season and has already scored 19 goals in all competitions – as well as three assists.

The 25-year-old is currently the top scorer in the Super Lig and his volley against Benfica in the Champions League won the goal of the group stages award.

Tosun has directly contributed to four goals in his last five Europa League games, he has been involved in a goal every 84 minutes.

Who is Cenk Tosun?

The powerful striker was born in Germany and rose through the youth ranks at Frankfurt before his transfer to Gaziantepspor.

As a result of being born and raised in Germany, Tosun would be eligible to play in England without a work permit under his EU status.

Tosun’s form has come as a surprise to many Besiktas fans and pundits alike but team manager Senol Gunes has a history of developing strikers.

Under Gunes’ stewardship, Burak Yilmaz went from an out of form winger to one of the most prolific strikers in Europe. Fernandao went from total obscurity at Bursaspor to goal king of the Turkish league. Last season Mario Gomez turned around his career and finished goal king under the command of Gunes.
