The agent of Onazi, Stephen Makinwa told Turkish-football.com a few weeks ago that Trabzonspor were interested.

“Trabzonspor are also interested in Onazi,” Makinwa said.

“Onazi has years of Serie A experience and is just 23 years old so interest from clubs is normal. What I can say is that Besiktas are one of the sides interested,” he added.

“There are many clubs interested in Onazi right now,” he added.

Trabzonspor were also joined by Besiktas as well as Sunderland and West Ham in the race to sign the Nigerian international midfielder according to Talksport.

The report also stated that Everton, Southampton, Swansea and Greek giants Panathinaikos had all expressed interest in the 2013 African Cup of Nations champion.

Trabzonspor struggled in the league last season but have since appointed former Turkish national team manager Ersun Yanal who has guided Fenerbahce to the league title in the past.

The Nigerian international midfielder made just 22 appearances for the Serie A giants last season in all competitions and had another two-years remaining on contract.
