Wolfsburg join Man Utd in hunt for Germany international striker

The Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have joined Manchester United in the hunt for Besiktas’ star striker Mario Gomez.

The Turkish newspaper Fanatik claim that Wolfsburg are plotting a summer move for the Germany international.

Gomez has also attracted the interest of Manchester United who have expressed an interest in the striker according to Telegraph and FoxSport last month.

The experinced striker has 27 goals in all competitions for the Istanbul giants this season including 25 in the league shattering the record for goals scored in a single season – previously held by Ilhan Mansiz (21).

Gomez has now scored six times and provided two assists in his last five league games. The goals have come at a critical point in the title race and have secured Besiktas a six point lead at the top of the table with two games left.

Besiktas take on Osmanlispor in the Turkish Super Lig this weekend know a point will clinch the title.
