‘I won’t return to Benfica’ – Man United given boost for £21m Brazilian star eyed by Mourinho

Besiktas star Anderson Talisca has underlined that he will not be returning to his parent club Benfica at the end of the season.

The Black Eagles have an agreement to extend Talisca’s loan stay by an additional season.

There were rumours that Benfica have been planning to keep Talisca on next season after an impressive campaign for the reigning Turkish champions.

Talisca has however, ruled out playing for Benfica again after leaving on bad terms.

“I am happy at Besktas and will not be returning to Benfica,” Talisca was quoted as saying by Turkish-Football after the Lyon clash.

“Besiktas have shown me a lot of respect and value what I have to offer, I have got my confidence back and rekindled my career.”

The news will come as a boost for Manchester United who have been closely linked with Talisca.

Turkish-Football reported that United have been scouting Talisca and monitored his display against Lyon last Thursday.

Talisca scored a brace against the Ligue 1 outfit and was voted player of the week on the official UEFA website.

Talisca shares the same agent as Jose Mourinho, Jorge Mendes.

Mourinho has praised Talisca in the past.

In a swipe at Benfica, the Portuguese manager revealed that the only reason Talisca is not in the Premier League is because he does not have a work permit.

Speaking to Portuguese broadcaster TVI24 [via Daily Star] in 2014, Mourinho said: “I think Benfica hired well. They say Talisca is unknown, but he is only so unknown because he’s only not playing in England because he doesn’t have a work permit. If he had one, he would be here!

Benfica could be keen to get a decent transfer fee for the Brazilian attacking midfielder considering he does not want to return.

Talisca does have a £21 million release clause however, he does not have a word permit to play in the Premier League.
