Everton has received a boost in the race to sign Croatia international defender Domagoj Vida this summer.

The 29-year-old was the star of the show during Croatia’s 3-0 victory over Argentina in the World Cup last week.

Vida subsequently has attracted the attention of clubs across Europe and could end up leaving Besiktas just six months after joining the club for free from Dinamo Kyiv.

According to the Turkish outlet Aksam, an unnamed Besiktas official has stated that the Croatia international is expected to leave this club after the World Cup.

The source was quoted as saying: “I doubt any transfer will happen while the World Cup is ongoing. However, once the World Cup is over, I believe Vida will leave the club.”

We recently reported that Everton tabled a £13 million bid for Vida last week. However, Besiktas have increased their asking price for Vida after a string of impressive performances in the World Cup.

Vida made a total of 13 Turkish Super Lig appearances for Besiktas after joining the club in January. The 29-year-old has four years remaining on his contract with the Black Eagles.
