Liverpool News: Wijnaldum urges star midfielder to remain at club amid interest from Euro giants
Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum has urged Emre Can to put pen-to-paper on a new deal and remain at the Merseyside based club.
Can has under ten months remaining on his contract with Liverpool and could end up leaving the club for free next summer.
Wijnaldum believes Anfield is the best place for Can to develop. The Netherlands international went onto praise Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp for his ability to maximise players potentials.
“The best place for Emre is in Liverpool with me!” Wijnaldum told AreaNapoli.it.
“[Klopp is a] Great coach, has an uncommon quality: that of knowing how to improve their players and make them maximise their potential. He is a passionate coach and with whom I deeply agree.”

Can played 73 minutes on Tuesday during Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Spartak Moscow in the UEFA Champions League. The 23-year-old was roundly criticised by Reds fans following the game on social media.
Emre Can has recently been linked with a move to Serie A giants Juventus. The Old Lady views Can as a long-term replacement for Sami Khadira.
Liverpool take on Newcastle United in the Premier League this weekend. The Magpies are managed by the former Reds manager Rafa Benitez.
Wijnaldum would call him a star midfielder to protect himself.
Can is calamitous and I am yet to discover what Wijnaldum brings.
Neither would get in other top teams on a regular basis, but were stuck with them so have to talk them up.
