Liverpool centre back Mamadou Sakho has been targeted by the Turkish Super League champions Besiktas.
The France internation’s Liverpool future has been cast in doubt after he was sent home from Reds’ US tour due to disciplinary issues
According to The Sun, Besiktas are preparing to table a bid for the Sakho as they look to strengthen their defence.
The daily tabloid goes onto state that the Liverpool ‘favourite’ was suspended at the end of last season for failing a drugs test. UEFA went onto dismiss the case however, Sakho missed the closing weeks of the Premier League season and the Europa League final against Sevilla. The powerful defender also ended up missing Euro 2016 after failing a drugs test as a result of taking a fat-burning substance.
The report goes onto state that Liverpool want to recoup the £18 million they spent on him when they signed Sakho from PSG.
Besiktas are keen to strengthen in defence after being forced to field midfielder Necip Uysal in defence against Galatasaray in the Super Cup final yesterday evening.
