Leicester City completed the signing of Caglar Soyuncu from Freiburg for a fee that will reach £20m with add-ons on a five-year deal as reported by Turkish-Football last night.

We can confirm that Soyuncu is currently recovering from a muscle injury and is facing a race against time to recover in time for the Premier League opener against Manchester United on Friday evening.

It is highly unlikely that the 22-year-old features against the Red Devils as he would have had less than 24 hours to meet his teammates and settle in.

Additionally, he will need to get back up to speed after missing the last two weeks of pre-season training with Freiburg due to injury.

The Turkey international is expected to be in the stands watching the game and is likely to make his debut the following week against Wolves on Saturday 18 August.

Soyuncu scored one goal and provided one assist in 55 appearances for Freiburg since joining the club from Altinordu in 2016.

The highly-rated young defender has one goal in 16 international caps for the Turkey national team.

Despite his young age Soyuncu is first-choice centre-back for the Crescent Stars.
