3. North Rhine-Westphalia
Yeşil was born in the North Rhine-Westphalia state in Germany home to some of the most successful Turkish players in the world game. In fact several stars of the German and Turkish national side originate from the state. Mesut Özil, the Altıntop twins, İlkay Gündoğan, Nuri Şahin, Gökhan Töre, Kaan Ayhan all hail from the state and between them have won the World Cup, played Champions League final and won countless domestic titles in Germany, Turkey, Spain and England.
Emre Can who is also of Turkish origin yet born in Germany was born in Frankfurt. Both Yeşil and Can can represent both Germany or the Crescent-Stars at senior international level.
