£8m Sacked Sunderland Ace Regrets Failing To Make Trabzonpor Move

Papy Djilobodji has revealed that he regrets not joining Turkish Super Lig giants Trabzonspor over the summer.

The Senegalese centre-back was sacked by the Black Cats after failing to return to training following the summer break. Djilobodji, who joined Sunderland for £8 million, wanted out after Sunderland were relegated to League 1.

Djilobodji was earning £30,000 a week at Sunderland but now is without a club.

The 29-year-old was closely linked with a move to Trabzonspor. According to the Turkish outlet Takvim, the move fell through as Trabzonspor were unable to strike a deal with Djilobodji.

The report goes onto state that the 29-year-old now regrets not joining the Turkish Super Lig side.

Djilobodji is now a free agent which means he can join any club but will not be able to be registered until January.

Trabzonspor are back in action this weekend when they take on Goztepe. Sunderland meanwhile are up against Rochdale on Saturday.
