Liverpool beat Swansea 1-0 at home over the weekend to move six points within the reach of Premier League leaders Leicester City.
Sky Sports football pundit Ruud Gullit was more concerned however, with the lack of creativity in the Liverpool midfield and shifted some of the blame onto Emre Can.
Gullit believes that Can needs to get into forward positions more if the Reds are to put more pressure on their opposition and create more chances in the final third.
“He needs to get forward in order to get the opposition out of position but he does not do it,” Gullit said speaking on Sky Sports.
The former Netherlands international did however, accept that Can has been filling in for Lucas Leiva but stressed that the Reds must create more chances as they had just two shots in on goal.
“Of course Lucas is not there because that is his position but this has been the problem of Liverpool they only got two shots on target today,” he added.
Can started in central midfield for Liverpool and has made a total of 20 appearances in all competitions for the Reds this season.
The 21-year-old has played in various positions since joining the Reds including centre-back, right-back and central midfield.
