Emre Can will miss today’s Liverpool v Newcastle United clash in the Premier League due to a suspension.
The young midfielder received a yellow card during the Red’s 6-1 win over Southampton in the League Cup.
Can has been an integral part of Liverpool’s midfield since the appointment of Jurgen Klopp as manager. The 21-year-old was deployed mostly as a defender during Brendan Rodgers spell in charge.
The Germany international provided an assist for Daniel Sturridge’s and Liverpool’s second goal during their mid-week victory against Southampton.
Sturridge found the back of the net twice in the first half while Derek Origi scored a hat-trick. Jordon Ibe scored Liverpool’s remaining goal.
Can now has one assist and one goal for Liverpool in 21 appearances this season. Liverpool have the chance to move up into 5th place if they record a victory this weekend.
