Mesut Ozil has stated that Arsenal are not afraid of Barcelona and that he believes the Gunners can defeat the La Liga Champions.
Arsenal take on Barcelona in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League in February.
“We respect Barcelona but they will respect us too,” Özil stated in an interview with Henry Winter of the Times.
“We beat Bayern Munich at home. We are not afraid of Barcelona. We just need to play our game and we can beat them.”
The 27-year-old has been in impressive form for Arsenal this season providing 16 assists in 19 Premier League games. The World Cup winner is no stranger to Barcelona having joined Arsenal from Real Madrid who just happen to be huge rivals.
The Gunners have played Barcelona seven times in European competition winning once, drawing twice and losing four times.
Arsenal take on Sunderland today in the FA Cup and face Liverpool in their next Premier League fixture.
