Besiktas have reached an agreement with Hannover 96 over the transfer of Brazilian defender Marcelo.
The Black Eagles released a statement on the stock exchange confirming being in negotiations with the Bundesliga outfit and Marcelo.
The statement read: “Besiktas have entered talks with Hannover 96 over the transfer of Marcelo Antonio Guedes Filho.”
Turkish clubs listed on the stock exchange must disclose details of talks before announcing the transfer of the player.
Marcelo is expected to arrive in Istanbul at 22:00 local time and will become the second defender following the arrival of Delgado from Getafe to join over the winter transfer window.
Besiktas have now signed four players this winter following the transfer of Marcelo – Boyko, Delgado, and Aras Ozbiliz being the other three.
Ozbiliz has however, been loaned out to La Liga side Rayo Vallecano despite joining in January.
The Black Eagles are currently second in the Turkish Super League five points behind leaders Fenerbahce but have two games in hand.
The Istanbul giants booked a place in the Turkish Cup semi-finals today following their 2-0 victory over PTT.1 Lig side Buca.
